About the GP

The GP is a private social club at LambdaMOO. This document is intended to describe GP and how it operates.

MEMBER BENEFITS: GP provides several private mailing lists, private communication channels, etc. for the exclusive use of members. Ask any GP Exec or member for help in using these. Please note that all of these forums are considered PRIVATE, and forwarding anything from them to outside of GP without the author's permission is considered bad manners and may result in your permanent expulsion from GP.

MAILING LISTS:
*GPNews -- important GP announcements; ALL members should read *GPNews
*GPExec -- readable only by Execs; any member may post confidentially to the Execs
*GP -- general messages among all GP members
*GPqooc -- humorous GP quotes taken out of context
*GPWorst/Best -- Worst/Best posts by GP members

CHANNELS:
GP --  general chat among the members
GPEX -- used only by the Execs, for GP business

FEATURE OBJECTS:
GPFO (#53133) -- very useful verbs for all GP members
GPFO II (#667) -- some additional useful verbs for GP members

GP PETITIONS: Generic GP Petition (#5676) may be used by any member to propose a change or action in the GP. Type 'help #5676' for instructions on use.

MISC: The GP Common Room (#84882) is a private room for GP members to meet in at any time.

The GP Web Page (www.angband.org/~gp) contains pics and bios of the members.

GP EXECS: A board of five GP Execs, plus one Alternate Exec, is responsible for all administrative and leadership duties required to ensure that GP continues to run smoothly and remains viable. The Execs make decisions based on a majority vote, which means 3 Execs must be in agreement to take action. The Alternate Exec votes only when one or more Execs is absent or otherwise unable to perform his/her duties. The Execs may put any issue to a vote of the members, at their discretion. The current GP Execs are Loki, Amanda!, Dulcinea, Dissolution, and Eins. The current Alternate Exec is Matt.. When a new Exec is needed, the Alternate Exec fills the position and a new Alternate is chosen.

NEW MEMBERS: If a person wishes to join GP, they should be instructed to post a message to *GP explaining why they wish to join, and any other information they wish to provide. Shortly afterwards, the GP Voting Booth (#61495) is activated, and all GP members have a 7-day period in which to cast their secret ballot (YES, NO, or ABSTAIN) on the applicant. The 7-day period is provided to give all members the opportunity to get to know the applicant before casting a vote. Members are also encouraged to post to *GP with their opinions or any information on the applicant during this time. After 7 days, the Execs review the voting results looking for twice as many YES votes as NO votes to admit a new member. If the results are close, or a minimum voter turnout of 25% is not obtained, the Execs decide based on the posted opinions and their own opinions. Rejected applicants are allowed to reapply after 30 days if they wish. Only one applicant is voted on at a time, thus there is a maximum of one new member per week. If more than this apply, they go on a waiting list to be voted on when their turn comes up.
